Whether you are just starting college, planning to return, or ready to earn your high school diploma (GED®/HiSET®), the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at San Juan College is here to help you! Receive FREE educational, career, and financial aid counseling! In addition, we will help you enter ANY accredited school or vocational program of your choice!
Educational Opportunity Center Services
The Educational Opportunity Center's services are FREE and offered through personalized one-on-one sessions or engaging group workshops.
College Admissions
Receive assistance applying to any college/university of your choice in the nation. Also, if you've taken a break from college and are ready to re-enroll, we're here to help you! We'll also help you find financial resources to assist with admission application fees.
High School Completion
Access resources and referrals to complete your High School Equivalency (GED®/HiSET®). We'll also help you find financial resources to assist with exam fees.
Financial Aid
Receive help submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition, we'll help you search for scholarships and provide information about how to apply for college work-study positions.
Career Information
Work with EOC advisors to identify your interests and abilities and match them with potential career pathways. Our team will assist you with the career assessment and narrow down exciting options that best fit you.
College Readiness
Receive personal and academic counseling and referrals to the many support systems that will help you successfully start college.
Transfer Assistance
Access help with transferring to another institution after graduating. EOC Advisors will assist you with completing admissions applications to the institution of your choice, ordering required transcripts, connecting you to other TRIO Programs at your transfer institution, and additional campus resources that will help you succeed.
Transfer Trips
Explore four-year colleges and universities with our transfer trips at no cost. TRIO program participants are encouraged to apply for these trips using our travel application.

We understand that many factors can impact adult students who are often challenged to juggle jobs, families, and school. From finding your class to navigating the small details about starting college, our team will provide you with the personalized support essential to your success.
We offer several workshops, from financial literacy, where you will learn about budgeting and banking information, to self-advocacy and goal setting.

Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen
- Age 19 & over or high school seniors (18 years and younger)
- Express a desire to enroll, re-enroll, or continue in college
- Express a desire to obtain a GED® or high school equivalency diploma with the purpose of enrolling in college
- A resident of San Juan County
- Priority will be given to:
- First-generation college student (neither parent has a 4-year college degree)
- Low-Income (see Federal TRiO Low-Income Levels Chart)
- U.S. Veterans, regardless of age, economic status, or educational background
